The Department of Labor approved the settlement, which required payment of $107,500 to construction workers on a Davis-Bacon project in New York City.
In June 2018, the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) ordered contractor American Standard Plumbing & Heating Corporation (“American Standard”) to pay $107,500 in back wages and fringe benefits to settle allegations of Davis-Bacon Act (“DBA”) violations. The DBA is a law that requires contractors and subcontractors on certain federal and federally-assisted projects to pay construction workers at least the federal prevailing wage.
The alleged DBA violations arose from plumbing and heating installation work performed by American Standard on an affordable housing project in New York City, pursuant to its subcontract with Mega Contracting Group, LLC. In addition to securing back pay for construction workers on the project, DOL also debarred American Standard for three years.
